La Grange

An oasis in the heart of Chicago’s suburbs.

Welcome to La Grange

An oasis in the heart of Chicago’s suburbs.

Nestled in the outskirts of Chicago lies one of the state’s most prestigious small-town communities. Offering residents a plethora of unique boutiques, one-of-a-kind restaurants, and a wide variety of stunning homes, La Grange has been regularly voted as one of the top towns to live in the area.

The area was originally settled in the 1830s by Chicago residents looking to escape the city’s population surge. However, it wasn’t until 1870, when the Great Chicago Fire took place, that La Grange started to thrive. Nowadays, this community is an absolute suburban oasis, offering homeowners all the serenity of small-town life without giving up any of the conveniences of the big city.

What to Love

People & Lifestyle

The proximity of La Grange to the center of Chicago has made it an ideal location for young professionals looking to start building a home for their families. Over half the population has a bachelor's degree or higher, and the median household income is well over $120,000, making it one of the more affluent communities in the area. Residents also tend to look after one another—many visitors note just how friendly and accommodating the people of La Grange can be.

Luxury seems to seep from the very walls of La Grange, and residents can take advantage of the town’s pristine upkeep, boutique-filled town center, and numerous places to visit in their spare time.

The La Grange Pet Parade is one of the towns endearing events that really signify the community. Established in 1947, this parade helps support non profit pet organizations and is larger than a typical fourth of july parade in surrounding towns.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

The dining scene in La Grange is an eclectic mix of fine dining, comfort food, and foreign cuisines that residents love to visit. Palmer Place has been a local favorite since it opened in 1983 and serves incredibly delicious dishes like beer-soaked bratwurst, one-of-a-kind burgers, and bacon-wrapped dates.

Prasino is another local gem serving farm-to-table delights such as butternut squash ravioli, cauliflower ceviche, and beautifully braised short ribs. If you’re in the mood for Indian, you’ll have to check out Kama Bistro. This restaurant’s house-ground spices are the secret to making some of the most delectable dishes around.

Things to Do

La Grange residents tend to come together and enjoy the numerous amenities and local recreational opportunities available to them whenever they have a spare second. Because of this, there are countless community-oriented activities that take place all year round. The La Grange Business Association holds a weekly farmers market from May until the end of October, allowing residents to purchase the freshest produce and homemade goods directly from the vendors.

If you’re into the outdoors, stop by the La Grange Park Woods, a beautiful nature preserve filled with walking trails and beautiful wooded forests where visitors can feel like they’ve genuinely immersed themselves in the wild.

Schools

The La Grange community takes great pride in the highly rated schools in the area. Some of the schools most worth noting include:
